Serampore - History and Heritage on the banks of the Ganges

One of the many benefits of my inter-cultural marriage is how it teaches me to look at old things with a completely new perspective. This is most pronounced in how I look at my home country through my husband G's eyes on our annual visits back. This year, we spent the few days in my home town Serampore uncovering (some of) its extensive history and heritage - both indigenous and colonial. Streets I have walked on casually a million times before suddenly took on a new meaning as I noticed  and appreciated the grand structures and history hid behind our busy modern lives.
